Brubaker Brothers Head to the 2008 U.S. Figure Skating Championships

Rockne Brubaker 21 a native of Algonquin, Illinois with his partner Keauna McLaughlin are the Junior Pair National and Junior Pair World champions. Now a new senior pair team they captured the silver medal at the Cup of China at the beginning of November and the silver metal in Japan in late November. Rockne and Keauna are the only Senior American Team that qualified for the Grand Prix finals in Turino Italy in December. The six top teams in the world will be competing at this event. Rockne and Keauna will be featured on ESPN this Sunday December 9th at 3:00pm.

Collin Brubaker 18 and his partner Rachel Tibbetts won the Pacific Coast Sectional Gold Medal title on November 17th in Junior Dance.

Both Rockne and Collin will be skating with their partners at the 2008 U.S. Figure Skating Championships beginning January 20th. through January 27th., in Saint Paul, Minnesota aired on NBC.

"A few years back while testifying before the Illinois Senate on Education Funding Reform Bethany approached me and said she graduated from Jacobs High School.  She spoke highly of her English teachers who led her on the path to Journalism. 

Over the years I've kept in touch with Bethany as she has been a valuable insider to the Springfield process.

Currently Bethany is the author of the official blog of Illinois Issues magazine, published by the Center for State Policy and Leadership at the University of Illinois at Springfield.  She is well known through-out the state as a balanced serious reporter of politics."

Laro Tan

Mr. Tan is a Legal Attache for the FBI in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.  He is responsible for the offices in Cambodia and Viet Nam.

Testimony from Mr. Tan's retired french teacher Audrey Lakin: 
 
"[Laro Tan] is a former student of mine now working for the FBI. His story is an especially heart-warming one, because he is a Cambodian refugee (escaped with his uncle into Thailand). He wrote his story while still in high school and it's one that has been inspirational to me and others with whom I've shared it. He received the Young Joon Chang Award as a Senior, went on to NIU in electrical engineering, became a U.S. citizen and joined the FBI in 1997.

He is a wonderful man; one of whom D300 should be very proud. You would be very impressed by his intelligence, wisdom and humility. He feels strongly that the education he received at Dundee-Crown helped him become the man he is today, and prepare him for his service in the FBI.

I can't say enough good about him!"
