Description If we were to give out awards for innovation
in art this would be the one to receive it. The young artists dismantled the desk, rebuilt it as a student, painted
it black, placed chards of mirros all over it so that when you look at it the art looks back at you. It is an amazing
piece and belongs in an office or municipal foyer as art. It is quite beautiful and full of meaning. You
just can't take your eyes off of it.

Artists Statement: For our desk, we decided to disassemble the desk and work to create
a whole new structure. By destroying it's original design, we have created a piece with an abstract concept.
Pertaining to education, we have touched on the intense emotions of a high school student. The stress, pressure, and
responsibility the average student faces are enough to cause an emotional implosion. The visual explosion of the abstract
desk is a direct representation of the emotional state of a high school student.
About the Artists Jamie, Meaghan, and Lauren all attend Harry D. Jacobs High School. All three are currently place
in a rigorous yearlong Advance Placement studio class. A career in the art appeals to each of the three students.
Coming across the Desks on Parde project, allowed the girls to work collaboratively on a community project.
