The Foundation is pleased to announce Bethany Carson Jaeger as the inaugural Distinguished Young Alumni 2008.

In a skeptical world of state politics one of the District 300's graduates brings a common sense approach to the political quagmire bogging down the governance of the State of Illinois.  Bethany Carson Jaeger, a 1998 graduate of Harry D. Jacobs High School is the Statehouse Bureau Chief for Illinois Issues magazine and authors the very popular Illinois Issues website.  her easy thoughtful and accurate reporting has earned her accolades from her peers at Capitolbeat, a national professional organization for Statehouse correspondents.

"As the Statehouse bureau chief for Illinois Issues magazine, Bethany has displayed an insight into the political process tht is not often seen. Her award-winning blog is a must-read.  In all of my dealing with Bethany, she has demonstrated herself to be a journalist of the utmost professionalism and integrity."  Tom Cross, Illinois House Republican Leader.

Bethany's demonstrated success in her industry of journalism has earned her the Distinguished Young Alumni Award for 2008.  It is a difficult position to report on the political elite.  She has a proven record of success among her peers and has earned the respect of those whom she writes about.
