Description
This desk brings everyone back to being a child with wonderful memories of sitting in the local library reading every Dr. Seuss book on the shelf.  Hours were spent on the details for every character.  I've heard that the artist's grandchildren are clamouring for their own desks.  This art piece is so beautifully done that there isn't a child in all of us that wouldn't mind seeing this in our own home.  By the way, it comes with several books and toy characters.

Read to your child everyday
And your child will read to you!

My desk is a tribute to Theodor Suess Geisel, better known as Dr. Seuss, whose wonderfully creative books have encouraged children to read for many years.  Dr. Seuss’s Beginner Books with rhyming words and delightful illustrations bring high interest and excitement to early readers.  By using bright colors, bold lines and Suess characters, I hope my desk will serve as an inspiration to the child and reader in all of us.  Dr. Seuss said it best:
“A person’s a person no matter how small.”

About the Artist
Barbara Hansen decided in 2nd grade that she wanted to be an art teacher and she never changed her mind.  She received a B.A. from Cornell College, Mt. Vernon, Iowa and an M.A. from Northern Illinois University, De Kalb, Illinois.  Her art teaching career began at Algonquin Middle School for District 300 and continued in both Elementary and Middle schools in Central Community District 301 in Burlington, IL.  As a part time instructor, she also taught the course, “Art in the Classroom” at Elgin Community College and National Louis University.  In 1994, Barbara was named “Middle Level Educator in Illinois” by the Illinois Art Education Association.  She is married, had three grown children and lives in Sleepy Hollow, Illinois.  Barb serves as Chairman of the Performing and Fine Arts Committee for the Foundation and is the Co-Chair of the Desks on Parade.
