Artists Statement: Hop on Pop Fox in Sox Yertle the Turtle too Read
to your child everyday And
your child will read to you!
My desk is a tribute to Theodor Suess Geisel, better known as Dr. Seuss, whose wonderfully creative
books have encouraged children to read for many years. Dr. Seuss’s Beginner Books with rhyming words
and delightful illustrations bring high interest and excitement to early readers. By using bright colors,
bold lines and Suess characters, I hope my desk will serve as an inspiration to the child and reader in all of us.
Dr. Seuss said it best: “A person’s a person no matter how small.”
About the Artist Barbara Hansen decided in 2nd grade that she wanted

Algonquin Middle School for District 300 and continued in both Elementary and Middle schools in Central Community District
301 in Burlington, IL. As a part time instructor, she also taught the course, “Art in the Classroom”
at Elgin Community College and National Louis University. In 1994, Barbara was named “Middle Level
Educator in Illinois” by the Illinois Art Education Association. She is married, had three grown
children and lives in Sleepy Hollow, Illinois. Barb serves as Chairman of the Performing and Fine Arts Committee
