Mother
This
was the poem my son, Matthew, wrote about me for a school assignment in 4th grade. People who have seen
it on my refrigerator say he really did catch my essence.
I was born and raised in Chicago about a mile straight west of Cubs park. A childhood
filled with playing softball on the corner and volleyball in the street was wonderful time. I married my high school sweetheart,
Scott, after we both finished college. University of Illinois is where I earned my Masters degree in the
Science of teaching mathematics.
My
first job teaching middle school math was in Evanston. When I began having my children, Kristen, Matthew,
and Daniel, I quit teaching to be home with them. As my “baby,” Daniel, started first grade
I was hired by school district U-46 for an 8th grade math position.
Currently, I am teaching full time at Abbott Middle School in Elgin, part time at Elgin Community College and paint
glass and wood items which I sell in craft fairs. Even though my last child is a senior at Jacobs, I feel
compelled to give back to D300 with this desk project. All of my children have had their complete education
from district 300 and Kristen and Matthew are both in college and doing well.
The Lord has so richly blessed my whole life and most recently my painting sales. It gives me great pleasure to use
my talents for the good of the community.
My
custom work is available on glass, wood and furniture. Contact me at wrestff@sbcglobal.net.
