Artist Statement:
I have chosen this theme because it represents the importance
and power of learning and knowledge. Everything we make and accomplish starts with learning in that seat. The chair has 3D
arms with tools building, shaping, and designing the chair; these are the hands of folks who learned that craft in a class
room. They learned that art in that very seat and are now able to improve that seat, or design a new one. That is
where it all begins… with acquiring knowledge to use the tools necessary to build and shape our world.
About the Artist
Bart Deredowski’s goal is
to make art from every day experiences. His art is created at time of strong feelings, to fulfill his need to express himself
his way. Currently his works are done on a painting surface which is the opposite of the standard canvas, the outer part of
the painting is the stretched canvas and the middle is the wood. The picture extends from the middle onto the stretched canvas
which is inclusive of the frame. It is all hand made and truly one of a kind, just like
we are. The artist was born in Poland in 1973.
He arrived with his family to the United States in 1982 to escape the communist occupation of Poland. Bart
is a self-taught Artist, working and experimenting with various mediums. Art has been
his passion as far as he can remember not just as a decorative pieces - but full of meaning.
